THESIS

My thesis’ degree was an urban pavilion, based on an 8 month study of the House Batlló of Gaudi. I developed an organic concept taking as a reference the topography of the hills of Bogota and its relationship to my model.

It's construction was planned from geodesic domes with a tubular steel system and a network of PVC tarpaulins.

These features were chosen due to their economic and environmental accessibility.

VIRREY PARK

Taking into account the high rate of tourism in the city of Bogotá, the sector of the Virrey Park is one of the places where most foreigners choose to realize cultural activities.

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF COLOMBIA

(PLAZA DEL CHE)

The great advantage of this location is the spatiality; the enormous concentration of students creates an ideal space for the interaction between passers-by and artistic manifestation.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF COLOMBIA

This is one of the most important areas  of the capital. It is the historic center of the city and the surroundings in which the project is developed are cultural since we find here the Museum of Modern Art, among others.

This approach arose after my first wondrous impression of the Casa Batlló.  The great number of ornamental details I saw motivated me to show in my model the different types of artists who worked on it, such as blacksmiths, carpenters, sculptors, and craftsmen. All this seduced me to conceive the design of a gallery where young little-recognized artists can expose and sell their art, adding a small café for buyers and curious people.
