ABOUT ME

Esteban Calderon grew up in an artistic and mathematical family. From his birth in 1993, a love of mathematics was instilled in him by his father and grandfather, who were both physicists and scientists of note.  Esteban was given the opportunity to develop his creativity from an early age.

He studied at several artistic institutes across South America and developed a multinational perspective during his high school years, having lived in different countries.  Following that, his perspective broadened when he moved to Europe.  He found a passion the summer he finished high school...interior design.

Bogota, Colombia, the place of his birth, is where he resumed his studies at a Canadian university Lasalle Collage.  He earned a degree in interior architecture.  His focus toward the end of his studies was on 3D modeling, and he studied various software packages such as Revit, 3D Max, Rihno, 3D Autocad, and 3D Photoshop among others.

Upon completion of college,Esteban traveled to New York City to seek greater professional growth and opportunity.  He quickly began interning at a sustainable architecture company, ORE DESIGN, where he developed design options, and presented various concepts to his clients. During this period, he was lucky to make contact with the Interior Design Society of New York City.  Esteban started practicing his craft at the New York Design Center, and was fortunate to build and maintain direct contact with his customers.  Through these experiences, he was becoming fluent in the language of design.

Esteban's next big assignment was working at REDU NYC, an interior design and furniture company.  They created spaces with furniture made from sustainable and fully recycled materials.  Here he acquired skills in the use of tools and different finishes, such as wood, metal, plastic, stone and marble.  This sparked his interest in creating furniture using programming and 3D modeling.  Esteban became passionate about 3D printing, entering a program at NYU and acquiring the skills needed to mold his ideas into real 3D printed furniture.

These days, Esteban is dreaming of  3D furniture.  He already has learned to take programmed software and make furniture, but now would like to incorporate recycled materials into his designs.  He is looking to further develop relationships with architects and interior designers who have a similar interest.  He is open to freelancing, and believes his multinational background, and earth friendly approach would be an asset to any company.  Please feel free to contact him if you have a project where he could be of assistance.
